What do I do?
As the CEO of Mahiti, I responsible for new learnings, growth, strategic planning. Though I no longer work in any live projects, I take considerable interest in how projects are designed, implemented and rolled out.
In the past I worked as CTO of Mahiti, then my responsibilities included system design, project management, programming, production and holding of technical/non-technical trainings.
I enjoy nature study and analysis, design, optimisation of algorithms..
I like programming. I have been programming for more than 12 years now and still its the most preferred activity for me, the next best thing that I like is to go trekking. I have an adventurous mind and ( believe me ) it helps in software design too...
Some of the interesting projects that I am involved in right now are:
* Digital Magazines
* Mobile applications for the common man!
* Web services
* NGO-In-A-Box
* Extranets
I have a FOSS story to my life. It happened as we were busy building mahiti. I have been doing lot of FOSS talk ( and some work too) in the last 6-7 years.
I am currently member of Plone Foundation.
Some of the Foss events that I actively participated include:
* AsiaSource I, Bangalore, India
* AsiaSource II, Sukabhumi, Indonesia
* APAC Security workshop, Manila, Philippines
* TOSS Festival 2007, Bangkok, Thailand
* Worksop on Interoperability in FOSS applications, Bangkok, Thailand
* SANOG annual conference in Thimphu, Bhutan
* Plone Conference 2004, Vienna, Austria
* Plone Conference 2005, Vienna, Austria
* Plone Conference 2007, Naples, Italy
I attended these Zope Sprints:
* Zope 3 Sprint in Bangalore 2004(Jim Fulton let the sprint)
* Gold Egg castle sprint in Austria 2005
I attended these Plone sprints:
* Mountain Sprint 2004
* Snow Sprint 2007
* Plone Conference Sprint, Naples, Italy (Oct 13-15 2007)
I managed to be here, do this(at some point in past!):
* Delhi - Manali - Lah - Lamayaru - Kargil - Drass - Sirnagar - Jammu - Delhi jeep Rally
* Driving across world's HIGHEST motor-able road [kardungla pass @ 18370ft above sea level]
* Thimphu, Paro vally, Bhutan
* Trek along Austrian Alps!
* Visit Volcano in Indonesia
* Visit the islands of Capri in Italy.
* Did a beautiful 7-day travel across coastal Karnataka along the beach.
* Visit Cherapunji in Meghalaya (India). The place which records highest amount of rainfall in a year!
Soon i will be in:
* Himalayas ( again, and again, and again)
* Horanadu
Though have travelled to more than 15 countries, I found
" Austria is the most beautiful of all these
Indonesia gave me many surprises
UK was very homely and
India's the best place to live!"
You must read this:
The Zen of Python, by Tim Peters
"Beautiful is better than ugly.
Explicit is better than implicit.
Simple is better than complex.
Complex is better than complicated.
Flat is better than nested.
Sparse is better than dense.
Readability counts.
Special cases aren't special enough to break the rules.
Although practicality beats purity.
Errors should never pass silently.
Unless explicitly silenced.
In the face of ambiguity, refuse the temptation to guess.
There should be one-- and preferably only one --obvious way to do it.
Although that way may not be obvious at first unless you're Dutch.
Now is better than never.
Although never is often better than *right* now.
If the implementation is hard to explain, it's a bad idea.
If the implementation is easy to explain, it may be a good idea.
Namespaces are one honking great idea -- let's do more of those!"
